Jim Fisher Roofing and Construction, Inc. was established in 1979. Originally Jim Fisher Roofing, Jim incorporated the company in 1986. The company was founded by Jim in Newberg, Oregon. He made the move to his current location in Old Town Sherwood in 1984. Jim got his start in the roofing industry hand-splitting shakes with his father when he was twelve years old. As Jim got older, and his reputation for quality and dependability began to spread, people began asking him to install his products as well. Thus the creation of Jim Fisher Roofing. After several years of both supplying and installing his shakes, Jim decided that he could better support his growing family if he simply concentrated on the installation side of the business. That is when he started focussing on being a professional roofing contractor.
Jim made his 1st deliveries from a pickup. Today, he has grown to a fleet of 2-36' conveyor trucks, a 36' boom truck, 2 fully equipped gutter trucks, a 30-yard drop box truck, 4 one-ton dump trucks, and multiple other utility vehicles.
When Jim first started, the industry was much simpler. OSHA was not involved, there was no fall protection, and safety was only a word.
Today, we have our own 14 step safety program, weekly safety training, and every employee is fully trained and equipped with full body harnesses, and the best fall protection available.
At first the office was only open before 6:30 am and after 6:30 PM. What a relief it was when Jim hired his first full-time secretary. Today, the office is fully staffed, and open from 6:30 am until 4:30 PM Monday through Friday.
Early on, Jim decided he wanted to grow the company slowly. It was more important to him that each job was done correctly, professionally, and each customer was treated with the utmost respect. Today, the company operates with quality, service, and dependability as the chief cornerstones. Each crew has it's own foreman, and each estimator acts as a project manager also. This allows for great accountability, communication, and quality control, as the estimators can stay hands on, working with the roofers and the superintendent, who coordinates the roofers, and inspects jobs on a daily basis.
Over the years, Jim has done a lot of roof design and reconstruction of roofs. This has always been a great asset to be able to redesign roofs for our customers without having to subcontract to others (that's when most things start falling apart). With our crews, we are able to do all roofing and contracting work in-house.
Today we have grown to over 40 full-time employees. We are constantly striving to stay current on new products, and better methods of application. Utilizing that knowledge to help create a standard above all others. |
