Worse than it looks
If you live in the Pacific Northwest, particularly amongst
towering trees, your roof is more than likely accustomed to that
dirty, gray "dinge." The look of that fungus growth is quite
unsightly, causing your roof to look much older than it actually
is, but the aesthetics is not the worse part.
This microfungi will soon be the food source for wood-rotting
organisms such as moss. The moss will then grow its network of
roots into the material of the roof, which begins the
deterioration process. Soon shingles begin to curl, shakes begin
to split, and then leaks begin to appear. If your roof
resembles any of the following captions, it is time to consult a
professional roofing contractor.
Having your roof cleaned and treated by a professional will
provide you with a healthy roof and lengthen the longevity of
its life.
